Our 2023 Estate Grenache marks an exciting milestone, our 25th vintage for this amazing varietal. It's also our first 100% Grenache since the inaugural vintage in 1999, so there's no Syrah in the blend. On the nose, it opens with enticing aromas of "pain grillé" —grilled bread — alongside deep red cherry and pomegranate, all flowing gracefully into the palate with delicate anise notes, while the finish lingers long with fine, chalky tannins. This is a wine of depth and reserve, with a larger-than-usual frame, needing a little air to fully reveal its character upon release. Our 2022 Grenache, smaller in scale, started out tight but unfurled beautifully with time, and I expect the 2023 to do the same. A touch more patience—or perhaps a bit of vigorous splashing—will bring out its full potential.
